On Saturday, May 18, 2013, join the Washington Humane Society (WHS) for a one day mega-adoption event, Sliding into Home, featuring “name-your-own” adoption fees. Potential adopters will be able to pay whatever amount they choose to bring home a wonderful, loving pet.* Over 100 animals will be ready and waiting for their new families at the WHS New York Avenue Adoption Center at this festive baseball themed event. All WHS cats and dogs go home vaccinated, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered – an already incredible value considering the standard adoption fees of $85 for cats, $170 for dogs, and less for smaller animals and birds. Attendees should come prepared to take their new cat, dog, bunny or guinea pig home the same day (after their adoption application and interview are approved).

Sliding into Home features special prize giveaways for all attendees (with extra special prizes for adopters) generously provided by our amazing DC business partners, who will be on-site with information and tips for adopters: The Big Bad Woof, Home Buddies DC, Wagtime, Your Dog’s Friend, Barkley Square and Pro Feed Pet Nutrition Centers. WHS staff from all program areas will be on-site to share information and give demonstrations on the critical work done each and every day to protect the animals of DC. Plus, food and beverages will be available for purchase from popular DC food trucks Goodies DC and Stix.
